My name is Luka

They say a pic is worth a thousand words

So here’s your 6,000 words

Dad tossing a coin with perfect form into the Trevi Fountain
Today was just a travel day. But we enjoyed the walk  from our Hotel Bettoja
to St. Peter’s Square
and Trevi Fountain
And of course, a pizza and a bottle of 🇮🇹 best white wine at a cozy sidewalk cafe
Not a fan of the Hotel Bettoja. Ancient as hell. I think Marcus Aurelius might have stayed in my room at one point

16/05/24 Thursday

Ok. NOW we’re fans of Roma.
Early in the morning we walked to the Spanish Steps and of course climbed the 135 steps to the top. And what American wouldn’t do the Rocky pose at the top

And mom posing by her hero. The Virgin Mary

What better way to start the afternoon than with a food tour
We first go to a cozy coffee shop and have a delicious pistachio croissant and a marocchino, Italy's chocolate espresso. What a perfect combination. Pure bliss!

We then progress to a tiny little deli called Masio

Check out that menu. And that’s our tour guide Luka.
Next up…
Nothing like a tomato bruschetta The freshest on the planet!
Below is where we got our first Italian rice ball, called a Suppli  Would’ve never ordered that but what a mistake that would have been. It’s a delicious crispy deep fried ball of rice with meat sauce and mozzarella cheese. Out of this world

And then we went to lunch

Ok. Enough food

  Next up— The Vatican museum
Now we’re waiting in line with our ‘skip the line’ tickets. And I’m thinking. This sucks. Like being in Disney World. Only for a museum
But this is when your trip to Rome becomes a trip to Rome   Now up to this point I’m thinking my best picture so far is of my pistachio croissant.

But that’s about to change. Once finally inside you’ll see the most incredible collection of Roman sculptures and Renaissance art in the world   The place gave me chills. But when you finally reach the last room - the Sistine Chapel - you’ll get chills on top of chills

The Last Judgement (Michelangelo)

Hands of God

Next (like our day wasn’t complete already) we figured let’s try to get in St. Peter’s Basilica

Well somehow we skip a line of hundreds and get in the shortest line that took a minute to get thru. Huge because just as we get in it’s 6:00. Time for the changing of the guards. The amazingness of this timing that we were there at that time and that spot (completely unknowing what we were about to see)… I dunno… divine intervention maybe? We both had our phones turned off because we were in dangerous low power levels. However, due to quick fingers, we got them turned on in time for a couple of pics

Ok
So we stop at another outside cafe for more pizza and wine on the way home. Time for this incredible day to come to an end
Tomorrow-the coliseum.  Omg. I can’t wait

  1. Lots of great pictures here but I think the coin toss into the fountain might be best
